Recently, while surfing through my Facebook account on a new laptop, I discovered videos were automatically playing without me clicking the play button.
I mean, scrolling through my Facebook news feed and stumbling on a shared video, the video will automatically start playing with no sound. If I want to listen to what the video is saying, I would have to manually click the sound button.
At first, I thought it could be just a coincidence owing to the fact that when surfing through my account on the previous laptop, it doesn’t perform that way hence I decided to stay cool.
This kept happening on every video and every time I log into my account because my friends share quite a lot of videos which in turn, was consuming a lot of data.
This was becoming quite uncomfortable because I am not on an unlimited data plan. Although I connect via Wireless on the laptop my blackberry 10 phone has the source.
Thankfully, I stumbled upon a guide on a friend’s blog which gingered me to solving the puzzle and yes, it worked out perfectly.
If you are in the same situation, be it via the Facebook mobile app or the web, I’ve got you covered as I will be giving you a step-by-step guide to solving the puzzle on both platforms.
Steps To Disable Video AutoPlays On Facebook Web
Step 1: If using the web version, log into your account on a computer.
Step 2: Click the options button located at the top right side of the screen.
Step 3: Click on Settings and at the left side of the page, click on Videos.
Step 4: Under the auto-play videos option, choose Off.
Soon, videos on Facebook won’t automatically play again. Hence, if you come across a video you’d like to watch, you can simply click the play button and you are good to go.
Disabling Facebook Videos AutoPlay On Mobile App
Step 1: If using the Facebook app button, launch the app and tap the options icon,
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Account settings
Step 3: When that loads up, tap on Videos and Photos.
Step 4: Tap on the Auto-Play option and select ‘Never Play Videos Automatically‘.
Please note that we used an iPhone device as the subject matter for the tutorial above. Other platforms work almost likewise. All you need to do is get familiar with the options.
Thanks for the info..
That mad thing dey chop my data like crazy.
Thanks boss I encountered this situation sometimes back, gotta change it right away.
