Did you just bought a custom domain on/from godaddy and you are wondering how to set it up, configure or have it point to your blogger / blogspot blog? Then this post is for you.

Here i will be sharing a step by step guide with images, on how you can actually configure or point your domain on godaddy to your blogger blog.

It’s been a while since I wrote any tutorial relating to Blogging. Well, here’s another. Here, I’d be sharing a step by step guide on how to set Up a custom domain bought on Godaddy to a blogger blog. Yes, i had to say that again.

Connect blogger blog to godaddy domain

By default, creating a blog on blogger blog is easy and straight to the point. However, you are often given a URL with the blogspot extension. For example, Being able to make that redirect to (which is a custom domain) is easy but would require you to purchase a custom domain.

Google sells domains via it’s Google domains program which only costs about $12 a month, that however, isn’t available to every country. Hence, there could be a need to buy from other domain registrars.

Choosing to buy a custom domain, you should be mindful of the registrar you choose to buy from. Not every registrar makes provision for a DNS manager. Of course, in cases where the domain registrar doesn’t provide DNS manager, you can use some other free DNS managers. Namecheap for example, provides a free DNS manager but that would require a bit of extra work.

Although there are quite a handful of domain registrars you can purchase custom domains from for your blogger blog, we will be talking about Godaddy here. Perhaps in subsequent posts, we will discuss how to achieve the same using other registrars.

If the process here seem a bit too much for you, you can hire me to have me do all the redirecting work for you. The process should be completed in only a few hours. Hence, hiring me to help you do all the work could be a better idea if perhaps, you do not have too much time on your hand for all the processes involved.

Buying a domain name on Godaddy is easy. I am pretty much you do not need a tutorial on how to get that done. Just visit the website, buy your custom domain, pay and be prepared for the rest of the process. Don’t be scared. It’s actually quite simple.

Steps To Step Up A Custom Domain Bought On Godaddy To Work With Your Blogger Blog

First things first, you want to log into both your blogger account and your godaddy account. I’d recommend using different tabs for this. You can use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Edge or any other web browser that allows you open multiple tabs and allows you switch between them with ease.

On the Godaddy account tab, place your cursor to your account name and click on Manage My Domains.

Please note: The domain needs to be using /pointing to the default nameservers before being able to use Godaddy’s DNS. If you just bought the domain and haven’t really done anything, you should be on the right track. If otherwise, please revert back to the default Godaddy nameservers before you continue.

Under My Domains option, click on the gear icon close to the domain you’d like to use for your blogger blog and click on Manage DNS.

Error With Configuring Domain To Work With Blogspot Blog?

In the case where an error is displayed, you should properly go through the process again. Pay more attention to the second details (the host and the destination). This is the major detail google needs to verify ownership of the custom domain you are trying to redirect your blogger blog to.

When successfully saved, try accessing your custom domain or your blog’s default domain and it’d show up a redirection notification or automatically redirect to your new domain. Cool huh?

That’s it. You have successfully set up and configured your custom domain on godaddy to work with your blogger blog. If by chance, you faced any issue or you’ve got questions to ask regarding this, please using the comment session and i will reply as soon as i can.
