Just when we thought the whole drama of Facebook copying SnapChat was dying down, Instagram has risen the heat again.
Facebook’s subsidiary, Instagram, has introduced a handful of SnapChat filters on it’s platform. The photos and video sharing service has introduced AR Face filters, Rewind and Hashtag stickers.
Sometime last year, Instagram launched Instagram Stories. This was evidently a cloned idea from snapchat. Facebook realized the new feature was beneficial, hence, decided to roll same feature on WhatsApp thus calling it, WhatsApp Status.
Few months back, same feature surfaced on the Messenger app. And finally, the main service itself, Facebook, introduced Facebook Stories. Another SnapChat rip-off.
Facebook did well by incorporating new filters. Most of these filters were quite different from what SnapChat had on it’s platform.
This sorta kept snapchat with some level of usefulness. Quite a handful still preferred some of the filters on snapchat. Especially the AR Face filters.
Instagram Gets AR (Augmented Reality) Face Filters
And now, Instagram has introduced AR Face filters on it’s platform. These new filters work in same manner at which they do on snapchat.
Not only do these filters work for a single person shot, they work for multiple persons. Just be sure to pull your friend into the viewfinder for an epic selfie.
From math equations swirling around your head to furry koala ears that move and twitch, you can transform into a variety of characters that make you smile or laugh. To see our initial set of eight face filters, simply open the camera and tap the new face icon in the bottom right corner.
Instagram Introduces Rewind Feature For Videos
Other than the new face filters being introduced, Rewind is now on board. Yes, Instagram also introduced a new feature called rewind. What this does is, it plays a recorded video in rewind (reverse) order.
To get the rewind feature rolling, simply dive into the camera on the app, select rewind from the list of available options. Record a video and the playback would be in reverse order.
You can make videos that play in reverse with âRewind,â a new camera format next to âBoomerangâ and âHands-Free.â Drop a microphone and watch it fly up into your hand. Capture a fountain in motion and share a rewind of the water floating back up. Experiment with some magic tricks of your own and defy the laws of physics wherever you are.
Instagram HashTag Stickers
Another new feature will the hashtag sicker along with all new eraser tool. Adding hashtags to pictures on the sharing service is now more interesting.
You can also add more context to your story with a new hashtag sticker. Just tap the sticker icon at the top right of your screen, select and customize the hashtag, then add it to your story. As with mentions, you can also add hashtags using regular text. People watching your story will be able to tap the hashtag sticker or text to visit the hashtag page and explore related posts.
Lastly, youâll see a new eraser brush when using drawing tools. You can erase other things youâve drawn and play around with removing color. After youâve taken a photo or video, select a drawing tool and tap and hold to fill the entire screen with color. Then, using the eraser brush, you can creatively reveal parts of your photo or video underneath.
These new features are available on the app latest version. It’s currently available on both Android and iOS platforms. Simply head over to their respective stores and update the app accordingly.
