The Samsung Galaxy A04s is one of Samsung’s latest offerings in its A series.
The A series has been around for a really long time now and something synonymous with Samsung’s A series line of smartphones is simplicity and uniqueness.
The Samsung Galaxy A04s is no different in that line of fashion. But, just before we go into the nitty gritty of this phone, let’s start from the basics.
What’s Inside The Box
When/if purchasing a brand new Samsung Galaxy A04s, you should expect the following items inside the box;
- A Quick Start Guide
- The Samsung Galaxy A04s Smart Phone
- A USB Type C cable
- Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging Brick
- And a SIM injector tool.
Now, to the smartphone itself.
The Samsung Galaxy A04s Design
Holding this for the first time, the Galaxy A04s phone does feel premium. However, I’ve got to say, the design is a fingerprint magnet.
If you are the type who isn’t accustomed to the idea of regularly rubbing your phone against soft cotton to wipe away fingerprints, you’ve got two choices; either get used to it or use a case. Unfortunately, no case comes in the box of this phone. You’d probably have to scout for a third-party case for it.
Away from that, again, it does feel sorta premium.
On the right side of the phone, are the volume buttons and the power button which also doubles as the fingerprint reader.
On the left side, you basically have the sim tray and that’s about it.
At the bottom of the phone, is the 3.5mm jack (yes, this does have the earphone jack in 2022 😁), the microphone, the USB-C port, and the speaker.
I’m guessing at the top of the device is an IR blaster and of course, at the back, are the triple cameras vertically positioned.
Oh, before we go any further, let’s highlight the key specs of this device.
Samsung Galaxy A04s Key Specifications

Having cleared the specs out of the way, let’s move on to the phone properly.
The Display
The Samsung Galaxy A04s features a 6.5inches PLS LCD with curves referred to as the Infinity V display.
This also features as high as 90Hz which by today’s standards, isn’t really below pal.
The resolution of the display by today’s standards based on the price is pretty decent as it features 720 x 1600 pixels which are referred to as HD+ (High Definition +). With this, and for the price that the phone cost, it doesn’t feel like you are missing out on a lot of pixels.
Speaking of price, the phone retails at around $140 which by today’s exchange rate in Nigeria, is just around N100,000.
Samsung Galaxy A04s Functionality
Having been using the Samsung Galaxy A04s for some time now, I would say that for the price, the phone does fit the bill.
The phone comes packed with features that are considered standard in today’s world and a little more for the price it sells at.
Considering this is a 4GB RAM phone running the Exynos 850, the performance is pretty good. You can throw in a few games here and there and the device would handle it really well.
Multitasking also works great. However, you really shouldn’t throw in highly intensive games or run too many apps at the same time as you’d definitely face some lags here and there. Of course, this can be seen as normal for the RAM size and the price it comes at.
Samsung Galaxy A04s Camera
The camera on this device is good; for the price. It also comes with Camera features like Portrait, Pro, Panorama, and Macro.
If you also need to take a picture of your culinary prowess, the Samsung Galaxy A04s has a food feature that should improve the scenery and possible outcome of food photos.
I’m a fan of Portrait pictures so, trust me to take a few Portrait photos and yes, the phone performed relatively well in that regard.
Verdict
For the price that the Samsung Galaxy A04s comes at, this isn’t a high-end phone by today’s standards. This is actually a budget phone. Hence, you should expect to make some compromises here and there. But, here’s the thing. The Samsung Galaxy A04s doesn’t make you feel like you have to compromise a lot. It actually gets the job done.
From a relatively good design perspective to a fingerprint scanner that’s pretty fast to a relatively good camera, this isn’t a phone that will be too hard to recommend for someone looking for a phone below $200. Oh! There’s also a cherry on top; it’s Samsung **wink.
