The first Android one smartphone in Africa, Infinix hot 2, got the latest Android 6.0 marshmallow update a couple of days back. We published a step-by-step guide on how to Flash in the update via stock recovery.
Fortunately, the update has been rolled out via OTA to hot 2 x510 devices. Hence, there might not be no need for the stock recovery method. However, based on reports we have received so far, updating via OTA renders some issues to the phone like been unable to find your files (music, videos, pictures) etc and this isn’t an issue experienced via stock recovery method. Thus, it is advisable that you take off your SD-Card before following the OTA route when choosing to upgrade.
Our tutorial on how to Flash the Marshmallow update on the infinix hot 2 phone has gained a lot of attention with thousands of views so far and we have received complains of not being able to change the IMEI after the update. I decided to give it a shot on my device and realized it’s true.
Fix To Changing IMEI on Infinix Hot 2 x510 Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Unfortunately, there is no proven method on how to change IMEI on the device while it’s running the Android 6.0 marshmallow Operating System. Hence, the best option now would be reverting back to Android 5.1 lollipop OS.
Of course, this is only important to those who use Glo bis on their device. If you are using normal subscriptions, you may not have to bother yourself with this.
And oh, for those who are having the issue of not being able to access their files after upgrading to Android 6.0 marshmallow OS, perhaps downgrading to Android 5.1 lollipop would be the best option pending when that bug is fixed.
I will be publishing a step-by-step guide on how to download from marshmallow to lollipop OS on the infinix hot 2 x510 soon. So, if you are interested in knowing how to, please stay tuned to TechsNG.
can I update my infinix hot 2 after changing its imei number?does changing imei number of infinix hot 2 has bad effect on the phone
No Mr Tope, changing the phone’s imei doesn’t pose any bad effect as long as you are using a valid IMEI number.
FYI my phone was totally stock and not rooted
The issue of the battery charging to 88 percent then stopping has nothing to do with root or imei. After receiving the 6.0 update my phone too stopped charging beyond 88. I tried all my best and got fed up. Sold it on olx and ordered a new one from jumia. Am not sure if I should upgrade this to 6.0
Sup bro, please I need to talk to you.. It’s urgent… Would appreciate it if you can send your number to my mail.. Or probably your bbm pin.. PLEASE. THANKS

Once the process is completed, you can verify your root status by simply going to Google Playstore, download root checker to be sure your Infinix hot 2 running Android 6.0
FOLLOW THIS STEPS RIGHTLY DEN YOU GOOD TO GO.
Thanks Richard. I am sure other readers will be grateful.
Download Chamelephon on playstore after rooting ur fone. ND change ur imei with it it works.
Out of frustration of the files I can’t access which is still taking up space on the phone, I did factory reset. My storage is now free/Empty but I still can’t change the imei number it’s reverted back to the original. That’s the most painful part about all dis. Go bis

Sowie please tech n co.. Wat if a reset has being done on d fone
I just rooted and changed my imei on infinix hot2 running mashmalow
Richard, mind sharing your tips on how you rooted the phone?? Am sure other readers will be interested in knowing how to go about it. More so, did that sort the files issue?
About the blackberry imei. If u have done it on your phone before, just go to ur settings and change ur glo sim’s APN from FLAT to blackberry.net and continue ur browsing. This really worked for me.
Hae Sam…OK,I was very happy with my infinix hot 2 x510 due to its effective ness, but am so disappointed with this marshmallow 6.0 operating system because it has totally distorted my phone. The phone unfortunately has also started to hang and slow and no option to downgrade to o.s 5.1.
Kindly I need a solution as soon as possible. I look forward to your concern Mr Sam.
Morris, please be patient, tutorial on how to upgrade should be published soonest.
I think i found the solution to the imei. If have changed it before to a blackberry’s imei, all you have to do is to change ur apn to blackberry.net it really worked me. #still angry, cant connect to my pc and my game can’t access its data.
Yes Dante, if the imei has been changed before, upgrading still leaves the imei numbers the same. Hence, for those who had initially changed to a bb imei, your tip solves the issue. However, according to Richard, those looking at changing their imei would have to root the phone first. But what-about the files issue?? We are still yet to find a solution to that except downgrading.
Hello Samuel,
i can’t wait to get this tutorial, am really pissed off with this so-called android 6.0.
What to do about the glo sub stuff, after the update and u found out that you cant browse, jst go to your settings and change ur apn to blackberry.net it really worked for me big time.
Hi Samuel, I’m really interested in downgrading to 5.1 but my question is will my files come back? And secondly how soon will you give us the information
Hi mr sam, i just need help on fixing my frnds hot note 1. Recently he complained dat wen evr he speaks on d fone wif sum1, he sumtyms finds t diff 2 hear d persn nd d persn sumtyms find t diff 2 hear him saying d voice is low even tho the persn s talkn loudly.pls i need yr hlp
Hi Desmond, unfortunately, that’s an hardware issue and not a software issue. Therefore, he would have to take the phone to an engineer for repairs.
Hello Sam, My brother’s hot 2 refuses to go into recovery. Please can we use sp flashtool to upgrade the phone to MM?
Yes Bilya. However, i am pretty sure your brother should have received the update via OTA update by now. If yes, please let him remove the sd card before updating to avoid issues of not being able to access SD card files on the phone after the upgrade.
Thanks for this information Sammy. Will be looking forward to your post on downgrading because I have already upgraded to marshmallow 6 and am unable to change imei.
Ok thanks for the information.
