Are you wondering how to open a GTbank Domiciliary Account otherwise known as a GTBank Foreign Account? Or perhaps, you are wondering what the importance is. Here, I will be sharing how I did it and the processes. Hopefully, it’d be of benefit to you in answering your questions.
If you are a frequent follower of this site then you might have realized my zeal in sharing my experience with readers of this site and here comes opening GTBank domiciliary Account.
Now, I do want to share my experience with you on how I opened a domiciliary account at Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank). Hopefully, you’d gain a thing or two from this article.
Please do understand that I am not just bringing up this post to tell people that I now have a domiciliary account with GTB as most peeps would speculate but rather aid those who seek information on this.
As a google adsense publisher, Google pays us through checks and these are foreign checks. In other to clear them and get our money in cash, a domiciliary account is required and so far so good GTBank is the best when it comes to internet business and internet banking needs as this.
Requirements For Opening A GTBank Domiciliary Account
Just before we dive into the rather juicy storyline, let me quickly cut to the chase. Below, are the requirements needed for opening a GTBank Domiciliary account.
You should have all these ready before making an attempt to get a GTB foreign account.
- ID CARD (preferably a government-issued ID card)
- Utility Bill
- Passport Photograph
- two (2) Referees
When you have got all these in place then your request is ready to be processed.
Having cleared that out, let us talk about how it happened to me. I mean, how exactly I was able to open a domiciliary account?
Okay, let me give a summary of how it happened
First, I went into a GTBank Branch close to me and requested information on how to open a domiciliary account. These kinds of inquiries are better directed to the customer care stands at any given branch.
The customer care attendant first asked me if I had any existing account with them like savings or current and I replied NO! He then went ahead to state the above requirements and not forget a hundred-dollar ($100) as an initial deposit.
I asked if I could pay the $100 USD in Naira and he said no, it has to be in dollar currency. I also asked if I could use a voter’s card as my id card, and he replied No. He added saying I’d have to use either Driver’s License, National ID Card, or An International ID Card. Apparently, those are the only acceptable ID cards.
I made available my Driver’s License, passport, and utility bill, and thereafter, I was given a form to fill out alongside two (2) referees’ forms.
I was advised to get two GTBANK Current account holders as referees to make the account opening process faster and that’s when the real task began.
The Process…
Owing a savings account is the norm. Current account holders ain’t always easy to come by except for those who often use their accounts for business purposes.
Thanks to friends who were able to get me the referees after a long time, finally i could sense a fresh relief believing that my account would soon be ready.
I went straight to the bank the next day to submit everything. By everything, i am making reference to every requirement needed including the two referee forms. The customer care attendant received the referee details and after confirmation, told me I would receive my account number within 48 hours and it was so.
My account number was sent to me via a Text message which is often the case with most banks. It is then required by the user to save the account number for further transaction purposes.
That’s it! Quite explanatory, right?
GTBank Domiciliary Account Charges
Having used my domiciliary account for a very long time and still using it to date, GTBank does not charge for inflows. By inflows, I mean, money received. They only charge whenever you withdraw from the account.
Personally, I haven’t been able to get a hold of how much percentage they charge on every withdrawal. Sometimes, you could withdraw $1000 and they’d charge you just around $10. You could withdraw the same $1000 another time and they’d charge you more than $10 or less. Hence, the metrics cannot be calculated, at least by me.
Hope this helps.
