Before now, we had announced that Apple will be launching the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus today 9th of September 2015. While Apple did launch the devices, other products were unveiled as well.
Apple unveiled the iPad Pro with a physical keyboard and apple pencil as well as a new apple TV with TvOS.
The iPad Pro based on the size is a bigger version of the iPads recently released. It’s actually a 12.9-inch tablet and the company terms it the most capable and powerful iPad they’ve ever created.
The device will be powered by iOS 9 which promises more multitasking features alongside a full-sized virtual keyboard. The device will also have 4 speakers and will utilize an 8 MP iSight Camera as well as Touch ID. Even though the Physical keypads and Apple pencils are supposed to be accessories for the iPad Pro, they are sold separately and are quite expensive. That’s just the basics although there are more we’d rather stick to the subject matter.
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus Unveiled
Apple officially unveiled the Duo S devices today which is basically an upgrade to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. Both devices basically have the same resemblance to their predecessors. However, there have been a lot of changes and improvements under the hood.
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook said “While they may look the same, we’ve worked hard to change everything”. The theme for the new devices is: “The only thing that’s changed is everything”.
Design and Hardware
Talking about the design, the duos are made of a custom, specialized aluminum, and the toughest glass ever seen on any smartphone. At least, that’s what Apple says. The devices are available in four color variants this time; Silver, Gold, Space Greg, and the new Rose Gold (Pink) Color. Before now, it was rumored that the Rose Gold color won’t be produced in the market but apparently, apple’s saying Yes it is.
As expected, the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus come shipped with the ‘Force Touch technology. This is the same technology that was introduced to the 12-inch MacBook earlier this year. Apple calls this “the new generation of multi-touch” and this also works inside applications and across the broader User interface of iOS 9.
For those who don’t know what the force touch feature entails, it’s a technology that gives different functions depending on how hard you press. According to Apple, it provided distinct tactile feedback for your actions, letting you know exactly what you’ve done and what to expect. Developers can exploit 3D Touch to transform interactions within the apps with new gestures and pressure inputs.
Camera
Talking about the camera, the new iPhones have a completely new iSight camera with a better megapixel of 12-megapixels sensor compared to its predecessors. For the first time, the phones will be able to record videos at 4k resolution. The larger sensor allows users to take massive panoramic images too.
The front camera is actually 5 megapixels and Apple has baked in some software enhancement to use the handset’s display as a front-facing flash for selfies. What more? Just like it is on some Lumia phones when you take a picture on the new iPhones, it will capture a short clip of video at the same time and when you push and hold on the 3D Touch display (force touch), the photo you are viewing will come alive with a brief burst of motion.
Performance
Thanks to the new Apple A9 Processor, performance is greatly improved. You’d experience 70% faster CPU tasks and 90% faster speed in graphics processing as the processor has an M9 motion coprocessor fully embedded in it.
According to Apple, there’s also been an improvement to the Touch ID sensor as well as WiFi connectivity which gives better speed (866Mbps) and also supports 23 4G LTE bands.
Software
Talking about the software, the official launching of the duo s devices also gave birth to the iOS 9 which has been talked about for months now. The iOS 9 features enhanced multitasking and other additions which as expected, should make the new OS, the best so far. You can find out all that you need to know about iOS 9 here.
Siri also gets a major upgrade as deeper intelligence has been put in place. Just like we have seen on Cortana and Google Now, users can call out the assistance program by simply saying “Hey Siri”.
