If facing issues with cannot connect to Google servers, these are a few steps to take in fixing the error.

1. Reboot Your Smart Phone

You know how rebooting a computer can fix some issues? Same applicable to smart phones.

Sometimes, all it takes is to restart the smart phone and that could fix the issue or error its facing. This can be confirmed over and over again. Hence, this should be your first point of action.

If you are not sure how to reboot your Android smart phone, press and hold the power button till the phone automatically turns off. Wait a few seconds for it to turn back on. If it doesn’t, press the power button again to start the device.

If however, error persists, move on to the next step.

2. Remove and Re-add Google Account

This is self-explanatory. The issue could be caused as a result of the Google account not synchronizing or something related. Hence, removing and re-adding the Google Gmail account could fix the issue.

How To Remove Google account On Android:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, Go to Settings.
  2. Under “Personal,” tap Accounts.
  3. Tap Google > the account you want to remove.
  4. Tap More >  Remove account.
  5. If needed, enter your device’s pattern, PIN, or password to finish removing the account.

For Xiaomi phones running Android oreo, go to Settings > Under Accounts, select Sync. Under Other, tap on Google. Tap on the account you want to remove, tap more and select Remove Account.

How To Re-add the account On Android:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Settings app.
  2. Under “Personal,” tap Accounts > Add account > Google.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to add your account.
  4. Open the Google Play Store app.
  5. Tap Menu.
  6. Look for the name and email address of the account you’re using at the top of the screen.
  7. Tap the Down arrow > the account you want to use.
  8. Try your download again.

3. Clear Google App, Google Play Store and Google Play Services Cache

Clearing cache of apps for the most part, revert the apps to its default state. Precisely how it was when you first installed it. Think of it as factory reset for apps and games.

Hence, try clearing cache of Google App, Google Play Store and Google Play Services. To do this, go to Settings > Apps. Tap on the respective apps and choose to clear cache.

Thereafter, go back to Settings > Account and sign into your Google account again.

Hopefully, this should fix the cannot connect to Google servers error.

If that doesn’t work, move on to the next step below.

4. Update or Re-download Google Play Services

Google play services along with Google services framework is responsible for running every Google related service on your Android device. Hence, it’s a good practise to check this.

Since you already cleared the cache, that’s out-of-the-way. The next step to try out if still experiencing problem communicating with Google servers on Android, is to update or re-download the Google play services.

Check if there’s an update. If yes, update it ASAP. If no, try re-downloading from an external source.

For this, you’d first need to allow installation of apps from unknown sources. For most android phones, go to settings > security and tick unknown sources.

Xiaomi android phones or other Android phones, go to settings and type unknown sources in the search box. Choose the appropriate settings and make sure it’s checked.

Thereafter, go to this page and download the latest version of the Google play services app. Hopefully, that should fix the issue.

5. Factory Reset The Android Phone

This should be the last resort if all steps proved abortive. However, I am quite confident that with the steps above, you should be able to have fixed unable to connect to Google servers error on Android.

If however, the error still persist, the last step to fixing it will be a factory reset.

Factory reset resets the device to its default state. More like, how it was when you first bought it if you did.

Before you do this, you want to back up your files and data. Reason being that, factory resetting an Android device wipes every file and data on the phone.

To factory reset an Android phone, go to settings > security > Back Up & Reset > Factory reset.

There you have it, guys. With these steps, you should be able to fix android problem communicating with Google servers. Any further questions? Do not hesitate to ask using the comment session.
