I have unboxed the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and also have the Infinix HOT S3X in house for a review. The review on the HOT S3X should be published soon. However, pending the time, here is comparison between the Infinix HOT S3X and the Xiaomi Redmi 6 in terms of performance. Call it, performance test!
Just before we go into the performance test between these two devices, I think it’s necessary we talk on the processors powering these two smart phones. That way, the message can be better conveyed.
The Processors Powering These Smart Phones
One is powered by a MediaTek processor while the other is powered by a snapdragon chip. Just before you draw the lines, it’s necessary you find out more information on the chips powering these smart phones.
Infinix HOT S3X Processor
The infinix hot S3x is powered by a Qualcomm snapdragon 430 chipset with an octa-core 1.4 processor.
While the thought of the smart phone being powered by a snapdragon processor may leave you feeling funky, bare in mind that the snapdragon 430 chip is a couple of years old. Precisely about 3 years old. Of course, the Infinix HOT S3X was only launched a couple of weeks back.
To be exact, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 430 chip on the 15th of september, 2015 and it is a budget chipset.
While this chip is meant to perform most basic tasks on smart phones effortlessly without glitches, you way want to reconsider if you are looking at more hard core functionalities and multitasking between games. At least, that’s what’s often said about the processor.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 Processor
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 on the other hand, is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 processor.
The Helio P22 processor was launched in 2018. Precisely a couple of months back and the new MediaTek Helio P22 will give budget smartphones the ability to offer higher-end features like AI, dual cameras, and more.
Out of the box, snapdragon processors are often believed to better than MediaTek Processors but that’s not often the case.
The snapdragon 430 chip in 2018, is perceived to be used mostly in low-end smart phones while the Helio P22 chip is basically used on mid-range smart phones.
To understand this, We did a performance test. The Infinix Hot S3 Vs Xiaomi Redmi 6.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 vs Infinix HOT S3X Performance Test
To be clear, Both smart phones features 3GBs of RAM and 32GB internal storage. Guess no loopholes in that regards.

As you can tell from the figures above, Antutu benchmark scores the Redmi 6 higher compared to the HOT S3X.
How The Performance Test Was Conducted
To be fair, We first restart both smartphones and thereafter, close all apps in the background.
Thereafter, we set a timer and launch a couple of games and apps. Precisely 7 of them. Immediately the apps are done loading, we switch to another and at the end, return back to the timer to see how long it took to load all games and apps.
This was done for both devices.
The games and apps used for this performance test are;
- PUBG Mobile
- Darkness Rises
- Sniper 3D
- Zombie hunter
- WWE Mayhem and
- Street Racing 3D.
As you probably know, these games are not the regular simple games. They are HD games that often require a lot of data to be downloaded. This was the idea. We didn’t want to just the regular simple games on these phones as they are not paraded and shouldn’t be seen as low end smart phones. Hence, the need for HD games.
Maybe in subsequent tests, we will opt in for games like PES, Mortal Kombat and the likes. If looking for a low end smart phone, you should look at the direction of the Infinix Smart 2.
The Results!
At the end of the test, it took the infinix HOT S3X about 3 minutes, 48 seconds to load all apps and games while it took the Xiaomi Redmi 6, 2 minutes and 59 seconds to load all apps and games.
